The term IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. Philips Lumea applies gentle pulses of light to the hair roots, to put hair follicles into a 'resting phase'. Hence, the amount of hair in your body gradually decreases. Repeating treatment sessions helps to achieve a wonderful, hair-free and silky-smooth skin. Hair regrowth treatments are safe and gentle on the skin, even in sensitive areas. Philips Lumea is clinically tested and developed in collaboration with dermatologists for easy and effective treatment, from the comfort of your own home.
Objective studies have shown a reduction in hair growth of at least 85% after just 3 treatments**. The first four treatment sessions should be done every two weeks, after which you will notice the desired results. To maintain these results, do follow-up sessions every 4 weeks. Philips Lumea works effectively, easily and safely on a variety of hair and skin types. It works on dark blonde, brown and black hair, and on skin tones ranging from very fair to dark brown. Like other IPL-based treatments, Philips Lumea cannot be used to treat white/grey, light blonde or red hair. This product is also not suitable for very dark skin. This is due to the high contrast required between the pigment in the hair and the pigment in the skin color.
The built-in skin tone sensor tells you the color of the epilated skin at the beginning of each session and sometimes during the session. If a skin tone that is too dark is detected for this product, it will automatically stop pulsing.
Use the machine with confidence to remove hair from the face (upper lip, chin and sideburns) and body parts, including legs, underarms, bikini area, stomach and arms.
